Benefits of linking your bank account

Linking your bank account to your account at Capital Group allows you to complete Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transactions. Once you link your bank account, you can: 

  • Make an investment at any time (up to $100,000 per day)
  • Have the money from a withdrawal sent directly to your bank account 
  • Avoid the hassle and potential vulnerabilities of paper checks
  • Use your bank account for automatic investment or withdrawal plans
     

Note: Some options and online transactions are not available for certain account types, including most employer-sponsored and ABLEAmerica® plans.

Adding or updating a bank account for investments and contributions 

A bank account can be added or updated online for ACH investments if the primary account owner is also listed in the bank account registration.

If a bank account is updated online, the new bank account will not automatically be applied to existing automatic investment plans. Existing automatic investment plans must be individually updated to use the new bank account.

Bank accounts that are already linked to any ACH withdrawal options cannot be updated online.

To link your bank account: 

  1. Log in to your account 
  2. Go to Your Bank Information
     

For your security and per federal regulations, bank accounts added online require immediate verification. If your bank doesn’t participate with our bank verification system, you’ll be prompted to complete a form.

Investments made via ACH generally have a 7-business-day hold before the money can be withdrawn. 

Adding or updating a bank account for withdrawals and distributions

For your security, requests to add or update your bank account for withdrawals or distributions must be received in writing. Complete the Add/Update Bank Information form (PDF) and include a copy of a voided check.

In lieu of a voided check, you may submit a letter from your bank on their letterhead including:

  • Bank account registration
  • Bank routing number
  • Bank account number
  • Bank account type (checking or savings)
  • Bank name
     

Note: A direct deposit form will not be accepted.

Requests that do not require a signature guarantee can be returned to us online using the online submission tool. You can also mail them to the service center closest to you.

Once the bank account is linked, there is a 10-calendar-day hold before the option can be used.

Requesting a bank wire transfer into or out of your account at Capital Group

Capital Group will accept bank wires to transfer money into your account, as well as requests to transfer money out of your account via bank wire. The information required to move money via a bank wire can vary based on the account type at Capital Group and the designated bank. Please contact us for more information.
 

Signature guarantee requirements

A signature guarantee is required if any of the following apply:                          

  • Adding a bank account and the Capital Group account owner is not listed in the bank account registration
  • Using the ACH withdrawal option within the first 10 days of adding or updating the bank account
  • Withdrawing over $125,000
